Lake Boon Water Carnival

| By Admin |

Welcome to the 2007 Lake Boon Water Carnival photos. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to attend the boat parade on Sunday, but most everything else got covered. Thanks to the Jackson's on Pine Point Road for hosting me for the lighting of the lake and the music boat festivities. I learned a lot of history the other night!

Fox25 News Visits Stow

| By Admin |

Welcome to the inaugural post for Apple Country Living! Summer is just slipping away. We're gearing up for school and the big apple picking season that is upon us here in Stow. Pick-your-own started last week at Honey-Pot Hill Orchard, so I'm told. Speaking of Honey-Pot, they were the host of today's visit by Fox25 News in Boston. Don't ask me their names, I don't watch the show ever. But it was their weekly Zip Trip where they go to a Massachusetts town and showcase it. It was kind of fun. The town has been all abuzz about it. Our newspaper was highlighted, The Stow Independent, as well as the golf courses, apple orchards, local restaurant, quilters and more. They had their own guy there dedicated to snapping off pictures with a point and shoot camera. It was kind of funny to see these expensive broadcast video cameras and 50lb tripods, mixing booth, and broadcast truck and then this guy running around snapping with his point and shoot and wondering if he'll reach his "quota". Go figure. I guess they throw them up on their website and people waste away their days seeing if they're on the web. I put them up too. It's fun. People like it. I have nothing against it, but I just just checked their website and don't understand why they throw them all up and don't edit out the ones that are blurry and just plain ugly. I guess it's all just good clean fun. If you are reading this and don't live in the area, consider coming out here for apple picking to one, or all, of our local orchards: Honey-Pot Hill, Shelburne Farm, Carver Hill, and One Stack Farm.
